Quickstart
Four steps from signup to a working business line. Most people finish in about five minutes, and you can test everything before a single customer sees it.
Before you start
Have these handy — the setup asks for them in this order:
- Your business name and trade
- A mobile number you can receive a text on (for verification and lead alerts)
- Your website address, if you have one — Prybar can read it to pre-fill your details
- A payment method, if you are ready to go live
The four steps
- 1
Your business
Enter your business name and trade. If you have a website, use the auto-fill helper — Prybar reads the site and drafts your services, hours, and description for you to review and correct.
The phone number you give here is your alert number: it is where Prybar texts you about new leads, emergencies, and your verification code. It is not the number your customers will call.
Note
Check this number carefully. A wrong alert number is the single most common setup mistake — it is where your verification code goes.
- 2
Choose your business number
Browse available local numbers by area code and tap the one you want. Prybar texts a verification code to your alert number; enter it to claim the number.
Tapping a number only selects it. Nothing is claimed until you enter the code, so you can change your mind without consequence.
- 3
Test drive the assistant
This is a live conversation with your assistant, before it is answering real customers. Ask it the things your customers actually ask — your prices, whether you cover their area, how soon you can come out.
Treat this seriously. If the answer is wrong, it is not a test failure, it is a missing fact — add it in Training your AI and test again.
- 4
Go live
Activate your account and your number starts working. The next text or call to it is handled by your assistant.
Then put the number where your customers already look for you:
- Your Google Business Profile — this is the highest-value placement
- Your website (Prybar can give you a booking widget to embed)
- Your truck, van, or signage
- Social profiles, business cards, and your email signature
Keeping your existing number
You do not have to change your number or switch carriers. Keep the number your customers already know, and set up conditional call forwarding so that when you are busy, on another call, or do not answer, the call goes to your Prybar line instead.
This is a one-time setup, about 30 seconds, using a standard carrier code:
- Most carriers (Verizon, AT&T, and most MVNOs): dial
*71followed by your Prybar number, then press call. Example:*71 14155550123 - T-Mobile: dial
**61*<your Prybar number>*11*15#— this forwards after about 15 seconds of no answer - Turn it off: dial
*73and press call (T-Mobile:##61#)
Heads up
Carrier codes vary. If these do not work, search your carrier's help pages for “call forwarding when busy or no answer” — the feature is standard, only the code differs.
Step-by-step carrier guidance is at Keep your number.
Confirm it is working
Before you point customers at it, do this:
- Text your Prybar number from your personal phone. Ask a real question. You should get a sensible reply in seconds, and the conversation should appear in your dashboard.
- Call it, if you have the voice add-on. You should hear your assistant answer and be able to hold a conversation.
- Ask it something it cannot know — a price you have never entered. It should say it will check with the team rather than inventing a number. If it invents one, your knowledge base needs work.
- Check the dashboard for the conversation and the lead record it created.
